Ariel has the brightest and youngest-looking surface of Uranus's five big moons.
Long valleys criss-cross it, where the crust cracked and sank.
In the 2020s the James Webb Space Telescope found frozen carbon dioxide on Ariel. Scientists think it may be coming up from inside, possibly from an ocean.
It's named after a spirit in Shakespeare's The Tempest. Voyager 2 photographed only its southern half.
